According to the Icelandic Labour Force Survey, the unemployment rate among individuals aged 16 to 74 was 6.5% in November 2025. The number of unemployed persons was approximately 15,200, the employment rate stood at 74.7%, corresponding to about 217,900 individuals and the activity rate was 79.9%, representing about 233,100 people in the labour force.
Compared with the same month in 2024, unemployment increased by 4.3 percentage points, the employment rate decreased by 1.9 percentage points and the activity increased by 1.6 percentage points.
Seasonally adjusted figures for November 2025 showed an unemployment rate of 7.0%. The seasonally adjusted employment rate was 75.5%, and the activity rate was 81.1%. Between October and November, seasonally adjusted unemployment increased by 2.4 percentage points, the employment rate decreased by 2 percentage points while the activity rate decreased by 0.1 percentage points.
