A total of 7,900 individuals were unemployed in October 2024 according to seasonally adjusted results from the Icelandic Labour force survey. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.3% in October, the employment rate was 79.4% and the activity rate 82.1%. Seasonally adjusted unemployment decreased by one and a half percentage points month-on-month but it should be noted that the value for September was unusually high. The employment rate remained almost unchanged while the labour force participation decreased by one percentage point. Observed unemployment in October was 3.0%, seasonally adjusted 3.3% and the trend 3.4%.
