The Statistical Yearbook of Iceland, Landshagir, has been published since 1991. Statistics Iceland has now decided to discontinue the publication, due to economic factors, and thus ending the 25 year history of this annual series.

In spite of the yearbooks’ uniqueness in providing general information on the country, its sales have decrease considerably. Technology has changed immensely since the Statistical Yearbook of Iceland was first published, long before of the World Wide Web. Statistics Iceland disseminates an extensive amount of information on its website and publishes around 500 news releases per year. The website, which was renewed last year, contains around one thousand tables which are accessible free of charge through any type of computer and smart phone. Statistics Iceland emphasises equal access for all users. The majority of information on the web is published equally in Icelandic and English.
