Statistics Iceland now releases a new issue of Statistical Series. This issue presents the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2nd quarter of 2009. In real terms, seasonally adjusted GDP in the 2nd quarter of 2009 decreased by 2.0% from the previous quarter. Over the same period total domestic expenditure decreased by 4.3% in real terms. Government final consumption in-creased by 0.5% while household final consumption decreased by 1.2% and gross fixed capital formation by 2.2%. Exports rose by 0.4% while imports fell by 4.4% in the 2nd quarter of 2009 as compared with the 1st quarter 2009.
In the first half of the year GDP decreased, in real terms, by 5.5% compared to the first six months of 2008.
