The building cost index for January 2022 increases by 0.3% from the previous month. The price of imported materials increased by 0.2% and the price of domestic materials by 0.3%. Labour costs increased by 0.2%. Cost of machinery, transport and energy consumption increased by 0.1%.
The building cost index is now published for the last time on the basis of the Act on the Building Cost Index (42/1987) which will expire on the 31 December 2021. Thereafter, the Act on Statistics Iceland and official statistics (163/2007) will govern the compilation of the BCI as was previously announced in a news release on 24 September 2021.
