The Icelandic consumer price index (CPI) rose by 5.3% from October 2010 to October 2011. At the same time the CPI less housing cost rose by 5.0%. Inflation was low in the first three months of the period but has risen since then.
In a new issue of the Statistical Series the development of the consumer price index in the period from October 2010 to October 2011 is described and the rebasing of the index in March 2011 is reviewed. It also includes a discussion of the effect of basing the index on different weights.
