The CPI based on prices in August is 380.9 points (May 1988=100), 0.26% higher than in the previous month. The CPI less housing cost is 361.2 points, 0.36% higher than in July.
Summer sales are partly coming to an end causing an increase in prices of clothing and footwear by 5.5% (effect on the index 0.29%). Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 0.8% (0.12%) and prices of oil and gasoline decreased by 1.7% (-0,10).
The CPI is 5.0% higher in August 2011 than in August 2010 and the CPI less housing cost is 4.7% higher than one year ago. Over the last three months, the CPI has increased by 0.9%, equivalent to an annual inflation rate of 3.5% (2.7% inflation for the CPI less housing cost).
The CPI compiled in the middle of August 2011, 380.9 points, is applicable for indexation purposes in October 2011. The old credit terms index for October 2011 is 7,521 points.
