NEWS RELEASE PRICES 12 DECEMBER 2005

The CPI compiled in December 2005 is 248.9 points (May 1988=100), 0.36% higher than in the previous month. The CPI less housing cost is 232.0 points, 0.22% higher than in November.

Owner occupied housing cost rose by 0.9% (effect on the CPI 0.15%), the effect of higher market prices of houses was 0.13% and of higher average real mortgage rates 0.02%. Prices of clothing and footwear are 2.1% higher (0.11).

The CPI in December 2005 is 4.1% higher than in December 2004 while the CPI less housing cost is 0.7% higher than one year ago. The CPI rose by 0.8% over the last three months equivalent to an annual inflation rate of 3.3% (CPI less housing cost: 1.0% inflation).

The credit terms index in January 2006 is 248.9 points. The old credit terms index is 4.915 points in January 2006.
