The CPI based on prices in December is 386.0 points (May 1988=100), 0.36% higher than in the previous month. The CPI less housing cost is 365.7 points, also that 0.36% higher than in November.
Prices of groceries increased by 1.7% (effect on the index 0.25%) and international airfares rose by 12.1% (0.12%).
The CPI is 5.3% higher in December 2011 than in December 2010 and the CPI less housing cost is 4.6% higher than one year ago. Over the last three months, the CPI has increased by 0.7%, equivalent to an annual inflation rate of 2.8% (2.0% inflation for the CPI less housing cost).
The average of the CPI in the year 2011 was 377.7 points, 4.0% higher than the 2010 year’s average. This change is comparable to a 5.4% rise in 2010 and 12.0% in the year 2009.
The CPI less housing cost was on average 358.8 points in the year 2011, 3.8% higher than in 2010. This change can be compared to a 7.5% rise in the year 2010 and 16.1% in the year 2009.
The CPI compiled in the middle of December 2011, 386.0 points, is applicable for indexation purposes in February 2012. The old credit terms index for February 2012 is 7,622 points.
