The CPI based on prices in September is 383.3 points (May 1988=100), 0.63% higher than in the previous month. The CPI less housing cost is 363.9 points, 0.75% higher than in August.
Summer sales are coming to an end causing an increase in prices of clothing and footwear by 4.2% (effect on the index 0.24%) and a 2.3% increase in prices of furniture, appliances and electronics (0.13%). Prices of groceries rose by 0.6% (0.1%).
The CPI is 5.7% higher in September 2011 than in September 2010 and the CPI less housing cost is 5.5% higher than one year ago. Over the last three months, the CPI has increased by 1.0%, equivalent to an annual inflation rate of 4.1% (3.6% inflation for the CPI less housing cost).
The CPI compiled in the middle of September 2011, 383.3 points, is applicable for indexation purposes in November 2011. The old credit terms index for November 2011 is 7,568 points.
