NEWS RELEASE PRICES 18 SEPTEMBER 2006

The HICP average for member countries of the European Economic Area (EU-countries, Iceland and Norway) was 102.5 points (2005=100) in August, 0.1% higher than in July. At the same time, the HICP for Iceland was 106.2 points, 0.5% higher than in the previous month.

The 12-month rate of change of the HICP was 2.3% for the EEA and the Euro-zone and 7.1% for Iceland.

The highest inflation rates in the EEA in this twelve month period were 7.1% in Iceland and 6.8% in Latvia. The lowest inflation rates were 1.3% in Finland and 1.6% in Sweden.
