NEWS RELEASE PRICES 16 JUNE 2016

Price level for Food and non-alcoholic beverages in Iceland was 30% above the EU28 average in 2015. The price level for Iceland was the 4th highest of the 38 participating European countries (EU28, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia and Kosovo).

The highest price level for food and non-alcoholic beverages was in Switzerland, 73% above the EU28 average and the lowest one was in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

The price level for bread and cereals in Iceland was 36% above the EU28 average; it was the 5th highest of the 38 participating countries.

The price level for meat in Iceland was 39% above the EU28 average; it was the 3th highest of the 38 participating countries.

The price level for milk, cheese and eggs in Iceland was 39% above the EU28 average; it was the 4th highest of the 38 participating countries.

The price level for alcoholic beverages in Iceland was 126% above the EU28 average; it was the 2th highest of the 38 participating countries.

The price level for alcoholic beverages in Iceland was 47% above the EU28 average; it was the 4th highest of the 38 participating countries.

Statistics Iceland participates in cooperation with Eurostat and OECD in the production of Purchasing Power Parities (PPP) in order to evaluate GDP volume indices on a regular basis in the participating countries.
