The Producer Price Index (PPI)¹ for the 3rd quarter of 2006 is 121.2 points, 2.0% higher than in the previous quarter. The PPI for fish products is 127.1 points, 5.6% higher than in the previous quarter (effect on the index 2.3%). The PPI for other manufacturing products is 117.3 points, 0.4% lower than in the previous quarter (-0.3%).
The PPI for domestically sold products is at 106.3 points, 2.6% (0.9%) higher than in the previous quarter and the index for exported products is 130.4 points, 1.7% (1.1%) higher than in the previous quarter. The PPI for exported products, excluding fish products, is 135.8 points, 4.8% (-1.2%) lower than in the previous quarter.
Meanwhile, the consumer price index rose by 2.2%, the wage index rose by 3.0% and the average price of foreign currency decreased by 1.8%.
Since the 3rd quarter of 2005 the PPI has increased by 20.9%, the PPI for fish products rose by 26.2% and the PPI for other manufacturing products rose by 17.2%.

The PPI for the 4th quarter of 2006 will be disseminated on 14 February 2007. As of January 2007 the monthly PPI will replace the quarterly index for the first time on 27 February 2007. Along with the monthly release of the PPI the price index for fish products will be calculated and introduced simultaneously as a subindex of the PPI using comparable calculation methods.
