The producer price index (PPI) in December 2010 was 198.0 points (4. quarter 2005 = 100), 1.7% higher than in the previous month. The PPI for fish products was essentially unchanged at 225.2 points and the PPI for power intensive industry products was 241.9 points, 2.5% higher than in November 2010 (effect on the index 0.9%). The PPI for food products was unchanged and the PPI for other manufactured products rose by 5.6% (0.8%).
The PPI for domestically sold products was 1.3% (0.3%) higher than in the previous month while the index for exported products increased by 1.8% (1.4%).
Compared to December 2009 the PPI has increased by 2.6%. The PPI for fish products has declined by 3.6% and the PPI for power intensive industry products has increased by 11.0%. In the same period the PPI for food products rose by 3.2%.

In evaluating the price changes accounted for here, it may be taken into consideration that the trade-weighted average price of foreign exchange in December 2010 was 0.7% higher than in the preceding month whereas it was 12.7% lower than in December 2009.
