The producer price index (PPI) in June 2008 was 153.0 points (4. quarter 2005 = 100), 3.7% higher than in the previous month. The PPI for fish products was 173.3 points which is 7.4% higher than in May (effect on the index 2.5%) and the PPI for power intensive industry products was 195.1 points, 3.4% higher (0.8%). The PPI for food products was 0.2% higher than in May (0.0%). The PPI for other manufactured products increased 1.4% (0.3%). 
The PPI for domestically sold products was 0.4% higher than in the previous month (0.1%) while the index for exported products increased 5.6% (3.6%).
From June 2007 the PPI has increased 29.5%. The PPI for fish products has increased 44.7% and the PPI for power intensive industry products has risen 36.1%. In the same period the PPI for food products rose 14.1%.
Basic weights for the PPI are revised annually and are as of June 2008 based on Statistics Iceland’s PRODCOM survey for the years 2006 and 2007.

In evaluating the price changes accounted for here, it may be taken into consideration that the trade-weighted average price of foreign exchange in June 2008 was 5.0% higher than in the preceding month and 40.5% higher than in June 2007.
