The producer price index (PPI) in November 2008 was 197.1 points (4. quarter 2005 = 100), 5.4% higher than in the previous month. The PPI for fish products was 248.3 points which is 9.9% higher than in October (effect on the index 3.0%) and the PPI for power intensive industry products was 254.5 points, 2.2% higher (0.6%). The PPI for food products was 3.7% higher than in October (0.6%) and the PPI for other manufactured products increased by 4.4% (1.3%).
The PPI for domestically sold products was 2.7% higher than in the previous month
(1.2%) while the index for exported products increased 6.8% (4.2%).
From November 2007 the PPI has increased 68.5%. The PPI for fish products has increased 93.1% and the PPI for power intensive industry products has risen 101.2%. In the same period the PPI for food products rose 22.4%.

In evaluating the price changes accounted for here, it may be taken into consideration that the trade-weighted average price of foreign exchange in November 2008 was 13.5% higher than in the preceding month and 93.3% higher than in November 2007.
