The producer price index (PPI) in September 2016 was 194.7 points (4. quarter 2005 = 100), which is 2.0% lower than in the previous month. The PPI for fish products was 247.2 points which is 3.1% lower than in August (effect on the index -1.0%) and the PPI for power intensive industry products was 172.1 points, 1.8% lower than in the previous month (-0.6%). The PPI for food products was 176.8 points, 0.1% lower than in the previous month and the index for other manufactured products was 173.0 points, decreased by 1.9% (-0.4%).
The PPI for domestically sold products was 1.0% lower than in the previous month (-0.3%) and the index for exported products decreased by 2.4% (-1.7%).
Compared with September 2015, the PPI has decreased by 5.5%. The PPI for fish products has decreased by 6.8% and the PPI for power intensive industry has decreased by 7.3%. The price of food products has increased by 1.4%.
Basic weights for the PPI are revised annually and are as of September 2016 based on Statistics Iceland’s data on production values from 2014 and 2015.
