The producer price index (PPI) in August 2014 was 208.6 points (4. quarter 2005 = 100), 3.5% higher than in the previous month. The PPI for fish products was 263.4 points which is 2.4% higher than in July 2014 (effect on the index 0.8%) and the PPI for power intensive industry products was 211.1 points, 7.7% higher (2.5%). The PPI for food products increased by 0.1% and the PPI for other manufactured products increased by 1.0% (0.2%).
The PPI for domestically sold products was 0.5% (0.1%) higher than in the previous month and the index for exported products increased by 4.6% (3.4%).
Compared to August 2013 the PPI has increased by 5.6%. In the same period the PPI for fish products rose by 6.0% while the PPI for power intensive industry increased by 7.0%. The PPI for food products rose by 2.5% from the previous year.
Basic weights for the PPI are revised annually and are as of August 2014 based on Statistics Iceland’s data on production values from 2012 and 2013.
