In the 3rd quarter of 2015, the financial balance of the general government (i.e. the central government, the social security funds and the local governments) amounted to a 4.1 billion ISK deficit or 0.7% of quarterly GDP and 1.8% of general government total revenue. Last year, the deficit was 5.5 billion ISK in the 3rd quarter or 1.0% of GDP in that quarter. In the first nine months of the year, the deficit amounted to 22.1 billion ISK, 3.3% of total revenue.
