Overnight stays in hotels increases by 10% between years in December.
In December 2008, overnight stays in hotels were 58,800 and increased by 10% compared with December 2007. Overnight stays in the East increased by 32% and in the Capital region by 13% from December 2007. In other regions overnight stays were similar between years except in the North where the number of overnight stays decreased by 27%.
Overnight stays in hotels in year 2008 increases by 2% between years
Overnight stays in hotels in year 2008 were 1,339,879 compared with 1,310,719 for the year 2007. Overnight stays in the South region increased by 13% and in the East by 7%. In other regions, the number of overnight stays were similar or decreased slightly between years.
The number of overnight stays by foreigners increased by 4% and decreased by Icelanders by 2% for the year 2008 compared with year 2007.
The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
