In January 2009, overnight stays in hotels were 54,800 and decreased by 6% compared with January 2008. Overnight stays decreased in all regions except in the Southwest, West and Westfjords. Overnight stays in the East region decreased by 54%, in the South region by 10%, in the North and in the Capital region by 6% compared with January 2008.

The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
