Overnight stays in hotels decreases between years in June
Overnight stays in hotels were 147,900 in June 2009 compared with 155,800 in June 2008. Overnight stays decreased in all regions except in the South. Overnight stays in the North were similar between years.

Overnight stays of foreigners decreased by 4% and overnight stays of Icelanders decreased by 11% compared with June 2008.


Overnight stays in hotels for the first six months of 2009 decreased between years
For the first six months of 2009 the number of overnight stays was 568,300 and decreased by 3% between years. Overnight stays decreased in all regions except in the South region and in the North region. For the first six months of 2009 the number of overnight stays of foreigners increased by 1% compared with the same period in 2008, while the number of overnight stays of Icelanders decreased by 13%.


The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
