Overnight stays decreased by 2%
In November 2010, the total number of overnight stays in hotels was 70,300, while at the same time in 2009 it was 71,500. The total number of overnight stays decreased in the West region and the West fjords by 22%, in the Southwest region and in the Capital Region by 5%.  In other regions there is an increase of overnight stays between years. Overnight stays in the East region increased by 37%, in the South region by 21% and in the North region by 4% compared to November 2009.

The number of overnight stays among foreigners decreased by 2%, while there was a decrease in overnight stays of Icelanders by 1% compared to the same period last year.

For the first eleven months of 2010 the number of overnight stays was 1,236,900 which was a decrease by 3% between years.

The number of overnight stays both of foreigners and Icelanders decreased by 3% for the first eleven month of the year 2010.


The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
