In June 2013, overnight stays in hotels were 239,800 compared to 208,400 in June 2012.

Nights spent by foreign tourists accounted for 88% of the total number of overnight stays in June and increased by 17% compared with June 2012. At the same time the overnight stays of Icelanders increased by 5%.

Nights spent in hotels increased by 20% for the first six months
For the first six months of 2013 the total number of guest nights was 931,900 and increased by 20% compared with 2012. Nights spent by foreign visitors increased by 22% while national guest nights increased by 12%.

The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
