In September 2013, overnight stays in hotels were 166,900 compared to 158,700 in September 2012. Nights spent by foreign tourists accounted for 79% of the total number of overnight stays in September and increased by 1% compared with September 2012. At the same time the overnight stays of Icelanders increased by 23%.

Nights spent in hotels increased by 14% for the first nine months
For the first nine months of 2013 the total number of guest nights was 1,644,808 and increased by 14% compared with 2012. Nights spent by foreign visitors increased by 14% while national guest nights increased by 11%.

The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
