In July 2013, overnight stays in hotels were 286,200 compared to 263,800 in July 2012.
Nights spent by foreign tourists accounted for 90% of the total number of overnight stays in July and increased by 9% compared with July 2012. At the same time the overnight stays of Icelanders increased by 3%.
Nights spent in hotels increased by 140% for the first seven months
For the first seven months of 2013 the total number of guest nights was 1,217,500 and increased by 15% compared with 2012. Nights spent by foreign visitors increased by 15% while national guest nights increased by 10%.
The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
