Revenue from non-Icelandic tourists during the fourth quarter of 2021 was almost 59 billion ISK compared with the same period last year when it was 8.2 billion ISK. Revenue from non-Icelandic tourists has increased by 81% in the last 12 months when compared with the same period the year before, from 112.9 billion ISK to 203.9 billion ISK.
Estimated overnight stays in hotels in March are 307,000 compared with 49,653 in March 2021. The number of overnight stays by Icelanders were 73,000 (+80%) and the number of overnight stays by foreign guests were 234,800 (+2469%).
In March, there were 135,364 departures of passengers from Keflavik airport compared with 7,729 in March 2021. Departures of passengers with foreign citizenship were 101,173 compared with 4,601 in March 2021.
This release includes updated statistics on overnight stays and revenue from non-Icelandic tourists. Also updated are statistics on rental cars from the Icelandic Transport Authority, traffic statistics from the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration, passengers count by nationality from the Icelandic Tourist Board and passengers’ statistics through Keflavik Airport along with traffic statistics published by ISAVIA.
