According to VAT reports, turnover in Icelandic tourism sectors was 55,5 billion ISK in May to June, an increase of 49% from the previous year.
In July, there were 140,972 departures of passengers from Keflavik airport compared with 58,940 in July 2020. Departures of passengers with foreign citizenship were 109,935, compared with 45,614 in July 2020.
Estimated overnight stays in hotels in July were 364,000 compared with 226,413 in July 2020. The number of overnight stays by Icelanders was 109,600 (-17%) and the number of overnight stays by foreign guests was 254,500 (+170%).
This release includes updated statistics on overnight stays and turnover by VAT reports. Also updated are statistics on rental cars from the Icelandic Transport Authority, traffic statistics from the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration, passengers count by nationality from the Icelandic Tourist Board and flight statistics for passengers and aircraft movements through Keflavik Airport from ISAVIA.
