According to VAT reports, turnover in Icelandic tourism sectors was 109 billion ISK in July to August, an increase of 85% from the previous year.
Estimated overnight stays in hotels in October were 357,000 compared with 38,778 in October 2020. The number of overnight stays by Icelanders was 77,500 (+187%) and the number of overnight stays by foreign guests was 279,500 (+2273%).
In October, there were 142,704 departures of passengers from Keflavik airport compared with 9,916 in October 2020. Departures of passengers with foreign citizenship were 103,237 compared with 5,923 in October 2020.
This release includes updated statistics on overnight stays and turnover according to VAT reports. Also updated are statistics on rental cars from the Icelandic Transport Authority, traffic statistics from the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration, passengers count by nationality from the Icelandic Tourist Board and ISAVIA through Keflavik Airport along with traffic statistics for Keflavik Airport.
