Statistics Iceland presents accommodation statistics in Iceland for the year 2007. Results are presented by overnight stays, arrivals, average length of stay and occupancy rates by different types of accommodation establishments. Figures are broken down by season, region and citizenship of guests.

The total number of overnight stays was 2.6 million in the year 2007, which is a 7.6% increase from the year 2006. From 2006 to 2007 the number of overnight stays increased in some types of accommodation establishments and decreased in others. The number increased by 10.9% with hotels and guesthouses as well as in holiday centres, 10.6% in youth hostels and 1% in camping sites. At the same time the number of overnight stays decreased by 16.4% in sleeping-bag facilities, 6.8% in private home accommodation, 6.4% in holiday centres and 3.2% in lodges in wilderness. In 2007 the response rate was excellent. Statistics Iceland received data from over 95% of hotels and guesthouses and above 84% from other types of accommodation establish-ments except from sleeping-bag facilities.
