Registered students at the upper secondary and tertiary level in autumn 2010

In autumn 2010 there were 47,240 students enrolled. There were 27,351 registered students at the upper secondary level and 19,889 at the tertiary level. The number of registered students decreased by 3.1% from the previous year. That is the first time that the number of students decreases between years since Statistics Iceland started publishing data on registered students in 1997. The reduction in the number of students only takes place at the upper secondary level, where the number of registered students decreased by 7.9%. At the tertiary level there was an increase in the number of students by 4.3%.
