Local government elections took place on 14 May 2022. At that time the total number of municipalities was 64, reduced from 72 in the previous elections of 2018. The number of voters on the electoral roll of the 2022 elections was 276,593, corresponding to 73.0% of the population. This is an increase of 28,650, or 11.6%, from the 2018 elections.
