The total catch of Icelandic fishing vessels in 2004 was around 1,728,000 tonnes, which was a decrease in quantity of 250,000 tonnes from 2003. The decrease was due to a smaller catch of pelagic species. The total catch value, however, declined less than the quantity, and was ISK 68 billion.
