The total catch of Icelandic fishing vessels in 2006 was 1,323 thousand tonnes which is 346 thousand tonnes less than in 2005. The value of the catch amounted to 76 billions ISK and and increased by 12.1%. The largest quantity of the catch were processed in the eastern part of the country, mainly pelagic fish.
