The world catch amounted 90.2 million tonnes in 2003 which is a decline from previous year of 2.8 million tonnes. The largest catch was in the Pacific Ocean or 48.6 million tonnes which is 53.9% of the world catch. Second came the Atlantic with 21.5 million tonnes, equaling 23.9% of the world catch.
