The world catch grew slightly between the years 2001 and 2002 and amounted to 93.2 million tonnes. The biggest catch was in the Pacific Ocean or 51.2 million tonnes which is 54.9% of the total world catch. The total catch from the Atlantic Ocean was 22.4 million tonnes or 24% of world catch.
