The number of persons in the labour force in the first quarter of 2009 was 178,200 which correspond to activity rate of 79.5%. The number of employed persons was 165,500 and unemployed persons were 12,700. The unemployment rate was 7.1%. The number of unemployed persons increased by 8,500 from first quarter 2008 and the number of employed persons decreased by 8,500.
