The number of persons in the labour force in the fourth quarter of 2008 was 182,400 which correspond to activity rate of 81.5%. The number of employed persons was 175,000 and unemployed persons were 7,400. The unemployment rate was 4%. The number of unemployed persons increased by 3,900 from fourth quarter 2007 and the number of employed persons decreased by 1,300. The labour force increased by 2,600 in the same period. The average number of working hours of those who were working in the reference week was 39.3 hours, 45 hours for those in full employment and 21.7 hours for those in part-time employment.
