In this report the framework that forms the basis for the sector classification of economic entities is reviewed as well as the sector classification in the compilation of national accounts in Iceland, with a special emphasis on public entities and delineation of the general government sector. This report is a part of a benchmark revision, a coordinated major European revision that is carried out at least once every five years to incorporate new data sources and major changes in methodology to insure maxmimum degree of consistency.
